The Swedish Government has recently decided to adapt the
Swedish Patents Act into conformity with the London Agreement.
The revised Patents Act is in force beginning May 1, 2008 and is
effective for granted European patent applications, where the
publication of grant takes place after that date.
In case the patent is granted with an English text, it will
suffice to file a Swedish translation of the granted claims and
pay a publication fee, calculated on the basis of the number of
pages of the translated claims (no publication fee for drawings).
In case the patent is granted with a French or German text, an
English or a Swedish translation of the granted description and
all drawings has to be filed, together with a Swedish
translation of the granted claims. Any text on the drawings
shall also be translated. Likewise, a publication fee has to be
paid, which is calculated on the basis of the number of pages
with filed Swedish and English text and number of pages with
drawings.
